Above map you can see Kaiteriteri just up from bottom right corner. Went over Takaka Hills to Takaka. Just past Takata to the Pupu Springs then out to the Golden Bay Coast to the top right on the map. Towards the Abel Tasman National Park.
Then the return trip back to Kaiteriteri for another night.
Trying to take a photo out the back of the van but there is always a clown that pops up.
We are now well on our way up the Takaka Hills and stopped at Hawkes lookout where we had to walk along a track 400mtrs to a lookout platform to look over this great view looking down the valley to the sea. It was early and cloudy and thus not very clear.
This is looking to the right of the above photo zooming into the small settlement below. A long way down.
Zooming in over the top of the hills. Great cloud formation.
This is the start of the Takaka Scenic reserve.
Over the top now at 700m. On the western side of the range and now descending.
Looking further down the valley.
We have now arrived into Takaka township. Very busy as it was market day.
Went in to this great cafe for a Coffee. It was really big with an upstairs and outside courtyard as well as the main floor.
A wall of colour.
We have now left town and have arrived at Pupu Springs. Beautifully presented area for people to enjoy the bush walk to see the crystal clear water that comes up to the surface of the pond rapidly, then sweeps down a few different outlets forming little rivers. The flow is really quite fast. What a waste of this very pure clear water.
We walked over the boardwalks.
Well manicured ponds.
Have arrived out to the platform which looks over the clear water where the spring is bubbling up the water underneath.
Looking down over the railings the water is so clear. Not sure how deep it would have been but probably about three metres. So much water is coming to the surface that the water then rushes down into small rivers.
All so well presented.
A little pond next to the big one.
We have now gone out to the coast to a small place called Pohara in Golden Bay. Big long beach and it was blowing very hard. Just about knocked me over when I in was taking this photo.
Driving further along this coastline to Wainui Bay
Approaching the Bay
Looking down Wainui Bay very isolated
Now on our way back to Kaiteriteri. Looking down over Golden Bay. Even though we left camp in the cloud the sun did come out for us.
Just left Takata on our way back over the Takaka Hills again!
At the top before our descent we stopped to take the below photo looking back down on the Kaiteriteri area.
A lady pulled up behind us and I could hear these sheep and thought to myself where are they. I then looked around and saw them. They were been transported to another farm and the lady stopped to check the trailer etc.
We caught up with them down the hill further as we had stop traffic lights as the road was one way due to all the slips they have had in the Takaka Hills. Major works going on.
These dam ducks hang around us in camp. People feed them and they become a nuisance. They are so tame they take no notice if you shoo them away. Initially there was 14 chicks then most of them left us but five of them lye down and had asleep under our camp chairs while we were sitting out there.
Some last photos of Kaiteriteri beach beautiful spot. The sun only came out here late afternoon.
Such a rich golden orange sand.
PT cooking dinner
while I was out taking these last photos.

You should be working for Tourism Jackie. Really great commentary and photos. It adds to the overall experience having a clown with a few duck friends popping in.
